It explains when he is thought to have acquired and read the book in question, based on his inscription, as well as various external sources including the official TCD college calendars, his 'Dream' Notebook, and his letters.Read: by October 1925.
Beckett's handwriting in Swift's book matches that from his student years and despite the absence of a date, John Pilling confirms he acquired the book in April 1925 (2009, 10).
